Access Period: Students have one year (365 days) from the date they claim their slot to complete their coursework. The ANCC certification examination need not be taken during this time.

AHCA/NCAL: American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living, sponsors of the UNMC CON CNE provided AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course.

ANCC: American Nurses Credentialing Center, is the world's largest and most prestigious nurse credentialing organization, and a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA). ANCC is the only nurse credentialing organization to successfully achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification.

Cancellation Fee: An amount equaling 15% of total tuition fees paid at time of purchase. Verification failure processing fees are not included in this percentage. Other restrictions apply. Refer to the Terms of Service for complete information.

Cancellation: Purchaser requests to cancel purchased slots in AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep.

Certification: The process by which a nongovernmental agency validates an individual’s knowledge related to their specialty. This process is based on standards that reflect current, real world, high quality practice with a focus on evidence-based practice and the application of clinical experience

Claiming: Process by which an individual RN enrolls in the Gero Nurse Prep course by using a claim code issued to a purchaser.

Claim Code: An alpha-numeric sequence issued to purchaser that is used by an individual RN in the claiming process. (see Slot claim code)

Claim Date: Date on which claim code issued to purchaser was used to enroll in Gero Nurse Prep. Point at which the one year access to course materials begins.

Claimed: Defined as the use of a slot claim code issued to a purchaser to enter into the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course system.

Claimed Slot: Slot claim code was used to access the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course system.

Course Fees: Registration and textbook fees for the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course. See GNP pricing for full details. Course fees do not include the certification exam fee payable to the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Eligibility: AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep (GNP) is open to all registered nurses (RNs). It is suggested that RNs who take GNP already meet the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) eligibility requirements, with the exception of the 30 hours of continuing education in gerontological nursing, which GNP provides, before registering for GNP

Employer Sponsored: Organization is supporting the purchase of a slot or slots in AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep by paying up-front at the time of purchase or by reimbursing the RN later. Note that an employer sponsored purchase does not imply that a representative of the organization be required to complete the online registration form on the RN's behalf.

Expiration date: One-year anniversary of the slot claim date.

Extension: Time provided beyond the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course expiration date in order for learners to complete the course. Extensions are granted on a case-by-case basis and must be requested by the learner.

GNP: Acronym that stands for AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep.

Primary Contact: Individual to which all future communications regarding the purchase, membership verification, and management (adjustments, tracking, reporting) of all slots associated with the purchase will be made.

Purchaser: An individual acting on their own behalf, or that of an organization, that initiates the registration process on the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep website.

Purchase Date: Date when date the full slot payment is received by AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep.

Purchase: Full payment has been received for a registration made in the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep.

Recertification: ANCC certification is renewed every 5 years to provide evidence of the expansion of professional knowledge and evidence of continued competence in the certification specialty.

Slot claim code: An alpha-numeric sequence given to an RN by their organization to use in order to claim their slot in AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course.

Slot(s): A slot equals one enrollment in the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep course.

Substitution: Please refer to the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep Terms of Service.

Tracking code: An alpha-numeric sequence issued to purchasers after completion of the payment and verification process. Purchasers may use this to monitor the status of each "slot claim code".
